While parents are attending “The Most Excellent Way” Fellowship/Support Meeting,
their children are invited to attend their own support meeting — “The Children’s Meeting.”
It is important for all family members to be able to share the changes they are
experiencing in their lives in a safe and loving environment.
The children and their Mentor will discuss the effects of drugs and alcohol in their lives,
and how to handle the past, present and future with the help of the Lord Jesus Christ
and His Word.
As parents, we hope our children have not been negatively affected by our past addictive,
self-centered behaviors. We hope our born again identity and new behaviors will be enough
to erase their memories and insecurities of their pasts.
Children, especially, internalize and avoid talking about family experiences and problems.
They are often trapped by past fears and insecurity because of our behavior as addicted
parents. Children, however, are more resilient than we are. Given the opportunity to
“speak the truth” with their peers, they are freed to trust in the new lifestyle parents are
now living and sharing with their child(ren).
Just as parents profit and grow from the encouragement and comfort of those who
understand where we’ve been, so will our children.
“The Children’s Meeting” is a strictly confidential environment.
Just as we have learned the power of God’s Holy Spirit guiding us into making right choices,
we trust He will do the same for our children. Jesus Christ — His friendship, love and caring
— and Biblical values will be the center of our meeting. Our children will learn how to choose
and develop right attitudes.
The package includes Children's Attitudes of Victorious Living Brochure (including
master for printing), guidelines for meetings, mentor Ministry Team Application
